Mr. Robert Louis Davis, 75, of 3885 Barkwood Drive, Winston Salem passed March 21, 2003, at his residence. He was born in Forsyth County, April 1, 1927, to Jack Davis and Ora Jeffries Davis. He was graduate of Winston-Salem State University and received his master's degree from A&T University. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an educator for the Staunton, Va., school system. Mr. Davis was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school, and was a member of United Methodist Men. He was a member of James H. Young Lodge No. 670 and Carver Alumni. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ora Jeffries Davis and his father, Jack Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory of 45 years his loving wife, Lillian Tillery Davis; two daughters, Robette Davis and Vera Johnson (Chris) of Winston Salem; grandchildren Quaneisha Smith (Jasper) of Stanford, Karla Davis, Crystal Davis, Rah-Shaun Davis and Camisha Johnson of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren Kayla Davis, Naomi Turner and Soloman Turner of Winston-Salem; sisters-in-law Mary Pauling (Cleotus) of Winston-Salem and Charleen Tillery of Fayetteville; brothers-in-law Odell Tillery (Barbara) of Winston-Salem, James Tillery (Betty) of Laurel, Md., and Douglass Tillery (Evelyn) of Augusta, Ga.; a devoted cousin, Mary Frances Darby of Charlotte; a devoted niece, Cathine Bell; a devoted sister-in-law, Mary Pauling; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. The Davis family would like to express their appreciation to the many special friends, and nurses and CNAs on the 6th floor of East of Forsyth Medical Center, and also to Hospice nurses and staff, Joy Dodd, Gloria Racey, Caryl Reynolds, Diane Hairston and Stella Brown. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church ,with the Rev. Grey officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2003, at the church. The funeral cortege will assemble and leave from the residence. Arrangements entrusted to and services will be conducted by Gilmore Funeral Home. (Gilmore)
