Robert Menton Obituary

Robert Menton of Stokesdale, 59, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Stokesdale United Methodist Church. Refreshments will precede the service beginning at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Mr. Menton was born on June 27,1965 in Douglaston, New York to John Joseph Menton and Mary Patricia O'Brien. He graduated from John Glenn High School in Greenlawn, NY. Robert enlisted in the Marine Corps the summer following graduation, where he served in the Marine Aircraft Wing with distinction for nine years. During his military service, he was awarded several medals for his dedication and bravery.
After his military career, Robert pursued higher education at Farmingdale University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he graduated Valedictorian and went on to work for Timco Aviation as a foreman. Later he attended Appalachian State, where he obtained his degree in advanced teaching. Robert was then hired by Forsyth County Schools, where taught aviation instruction and repair at the career center in Winston-Salem. Robert was not only a skilled educator but also a beloved mentor to his students, earning the title of Teacher of the Year for his outstanding contributions. Colleagues would describe Robert as not just a teacher, but a great teacher. Robert's legacy of service, both in the military and in education, will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Joseph Menton; and siblings, Michael Menton and Jeanne Menton.
Survivors include his mother, Mary O'Brien-Irons; children, Avery Beam and Levi Menton; grandchild, Beau Beam; sibling, Danielle Tonarely (Bobby); nieces and nephew, Jessica Menton, Alexander Menton and Mia Boloix.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to The Salvation Army and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

OMG RJ, I sent a text, you didn't answer you always answer. I new something was wrong. I'm so sorry Mary and to his daughter I've only talked to on the phone. I will miss him!!

Robert, you are the first boy I love, and the last man I will ever love. I will always have your six; and follow through with the promises I made to you. You wanted the big military funeral. As Promised your Squadron Brother's are going to do something to honor you. They share this "Rest easy Marine, we have the watch from here". I love you always and forever. Everything I do is to uphold your memory, and respect your wishes. Love and someday I pray we will be together.
