Steve Hopp, age 62, died February 3, 2022, at his home in Winston-Salem, NC surrounded by loved ones. Steve was born on September 11, 1959 in Lansing, MI but his family moved to North Carolina in 1967. Steve received a degree in Psychology from UNC Wilmington in 1982. There he met his wife, Mary Lee Horne, from Burlington, NC, whom he married in 1982. They raised their two children, Daniel and Christin, in Clemmons, NC. Steve worked as a systems analyst and spent the last 20 years of his career at Old Dominion Freight Lines.

Steve loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and more recently, his granddaughters. He loved watching the UNC Tarheels, Detroit teams, and any of his nieces' or nephews' activities. Steve was a talented drummer and very accomplished golfer. He had a sharp wit and was a loyal, thoughtful man with a generous spirit . . . and he had the most beautiful, manicured yard in his neighborhood.

Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Lee, son Daniel Hopp, both of Winston Salem, NC, daughter Christin Hopp Brackett and her husband Major Kyle Brackett of Altus, OK; two granddaughters, Ellie Brya and Olivia June Brackett, parents Dale H. Hopp and Mary Lou Hopp of Matthews, NC, sister Anne Hopp of Chapel Hill, NC and brother Jason Hopp of Apex, NC. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well.

The family wants to thank generous and loving friends, family, and the staff at Trellis for their kindness and support.
