Sylvia Canter Grogan, 85, left this world for her heavenly home on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at her home.

Sylvia was born on December 2, 1940, in Guilford County, N.C., to the late Ralph Thomas and Gladys Gwaltney Canter. She loved the Lord very much and was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church for 60 years. She retired from the Forsyth County Department of Social Services where she was a social worker for more than 30 years. On November 26, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jim Grogan, and they were married for more than 60 years.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her brother, Steve Canter.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim Grogan; son, Michael Grogan (Beth); and four grandchildren, Skyler, Sophie, Bill, and Gary. Special extended family: Rosanne Bodenhamer, Burt and Mary Rodriguez, and Mikal and PJ Hunt.

There will be a 3 pm Funeral service held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan Rasey and Pastor Keith Heitman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 2 to 3 pm at Bethel Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
