Wanda Weaver Obituary

KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Wanda Simon Weaver, 93, formerly of Homer, W.Va., passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Kernersville. She was born Feb. 8, 1913, to W.O. and Nettie Hawkins in Rosedale, W.Va. Mrs. Weaver was retired from Weston State Hospital. She was a member of Ireland United Methodist Church; Order of Eastern Star No. 32; the Shamrock Club and Widows Support Group. She was very proud to have been past "Queen Elizabeth" of the Irish Spring Festival. Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her parents; husbands C.W. "Bud" Simon and Russell Weaver; son Roger W. Simon; brother Rollin Hawkins; sisters Arlou Minney and Helen Homer; and daughter-in-law Marilyn Simon. She is survived by her son, C.W. "Buddy" Simon of Scott Depot, W.Va.; and her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Rod McGinnis of Kernersville. She was lovingly known as NeeNaw by her four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her gentle and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at Floyd Funeral Home in Weston, W.Va. A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Carl VanStaven officiating. Interment will follow in Long Point Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter in Winston-Salem or Ireland United Methodist Church, Ireland, WV 26447.
