Willie Grey Smith Hoots

HOOTS YADKINVILLE - Willie Grey Smith Hoots, 75, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Mrs. Hoots was born April 8, 1934 to the late Taft Leak and Elva Conrad Smith. She was a graduate of Yadkinville High School in 1952. Mrs. Hoots retired from AT&T in 1990 with 35 years of service. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger Hoots in 2005; and a brother, Thomas Lee Smith. Surviving are a son, Dale (Deanna) Hoots of East Bend; a daughter, Penni Hoots Brackett, of Yadkinville; grandchildren: Amber Hoots, Zachary Hoots, and Garrett Brackett; a sister, Libby (Gene) Johnson of Galax, VA; two brothers, Odell (Rose) Smith of East Bend, Douglas (Linda) Smith, of Boonville; and sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Winston-Salem. Her Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 at Enon Baptist Church by the Rev. Mark Elmore. Burial will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice.
