Francis Joseph Staab Jr., 72, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Mauston, Wisc. Born on June 16, 1953, Plainville, Kan. Francis was a beloved figure in his community and family, known for his engaging personality and unconditional love for those around him.

Francis attended James Logan High School in Union City, Calif., where he also completed his higher education. His early career began at the age of 12, delivering newspapers, and by 14, he was working at BABS Dairy in Hayward, Calif. Following high school, Francis explored various jobs, including a brief stint as a mechanic from 1967 to 1968. His adventurous spirit led him to fight forest fires in Idaho and Washington during 1972 and 1973, showcasing his bravery and commitment to service.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Francis was passionate about music; he liked playing the saxophone. He cherished family gatherings, where his contagious smile and humorous spirit were always the highlight. He loved to take rides on the motorcycles, he took great pride in his white Chevy truck and had a profound love for trains, dedicating an entire room in his home to his collection. Francis also enjoyed getting his hair done, which was always a special occasion for him.

He is survived by his son, Paul; siblings, Donna Jo, Cathy, Spence, Lula Smyser, and Christy (Todd) Derkez; nieces and nephews, Brian Spence, Wawona Gilbert, David Spence, Justin Challender, Jeremiah Smyser, Travis Spence, Melissa Larson, Scott Syverson, Deanna Syverson, Leanna Syverson; great-nieces and nephews, Brianna Spence, Hatanna Larson, Jada Johns, Tyonna Larson, Kendra Syverson, Deidra Hunter, Ava Gattuccio. Emmaline Smyser, Kobe Gilbert, Justin Larson, Malachi Mc Ginnis, Carson Syverson, Marcus Syverson (Calkins) Logan Hunter, Lucas Syverson (Calkins) Jeremiah Smyser Jr. Javon Howard, Koel Challender. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Duncan and Francis Joseph Staab Sr.; his nephew, Ryan Syverson.
