BARABOO - Lorraine Ann Steinhorst, age 88, of Baraboo, WI, passed away peacefully in her sleep, after a long battle with Alzheimer's, on Sunday, December 10, 2023.
She is survived by her two sons: Gary (Peggy) Steinhorst and Mark (Angie) Steinhorst; four grandchildren: Josh (Rachel) Steinhorst, Kendra (fiancee, Robert) Steinhorst, Dale (fiancee, Karli) Steinhorst, and Jared (Niki) Steinhorst; two great-grandchildren: Ben and Lily Steinhorst; a sister, Alice (Bill) Bhend; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Jan Steinhorst; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was born to her parents, Perry "Bud" Traxler and Esther Traxler on March 16, 1935. She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1953, and also married Arlan (Mike) Steinhorst in 1953.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother-in-law, Marv Jensen; and sisters-in-law: Arlyle Jensen and Carol Jensen.
Lorraine worked at Baraboo Food Products/Sysco Foods for many years retiring in 1994.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and cousin, and enjoyed the outdoors, and golfing. In her later years she enjoyed "wine time" with her wonderful friends from the neighborhood.
We are planning to have a Celebration of Life service and party in the late spring or early summer when the weather is nice and flowers are blooming and everything is green. This was Mom's favorite time of the year.
I would like to thank the loving, caring staff at Oak Park Place of Baraboo Memory Care Unit for there wonderful care through this long disease process.
In lieu of flowers or any memorial money donations, please consider donating to Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at https://www.adrc.wisc.edu/give or also consider supporting the wonderful people at Agrace Hospice by donating at https://www.agrace.org/donate/.
