Raymond Daniels Obituary
Raymond James Daniels, known affectionately by family and friends as Ray, passed away in Mauston, Wisc., on December 3, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on December 12, 1938, in Batavia, N.Y., to his parents George E. Daniels and Margaret D. (Ramsay) Daniels, Ray was a cherished individual who enriched the lives of those around him. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sharon M. (Linhart) Daniels; his brother, George E. Daniels; his sisters, Margaret D. Griffen and Goldie E. Cooley; and his much loved and missed son, Robert R. Daniels. His memory will be carried on by his loving daughter, Deborah K. Daniels; and his best friend and grandson, Noah Robert Daniels-Johnson, who were also his caregivers in his last few years. Ray is further survived by many friends and family members whom he treasured deeply, including his sister-in-law, Nancy Daniels; and his cousin, Aleda Moseley. Ray was a man of perpetual curiosity and zest for life. He earned his bachelor's degree later in life, never ceasing to learn and grow. He was a dedicated servant to his community and country, retiring from the Wisconsin State Patrol after more than 27 years of service, and from the Army and National Guard after more than 35 years. Despite these professional accomplishments, if asked, Ray would have said that his greatest achievement was becoming a father and grandfather.
A service in honor of Ray's life will be held on December 20, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Camp Douglas, Wisc., with Pastor Brad Lindberg officiating. As we grieve the loss of Ray, we also celebrate his life, cherishing the memories and moments we shared with him. In addition to his service to his country and community, Ray was known for his kindness and dedication to his family. His influence will continue to serve as a source of strength and inspiration for those who knew him. His legacy of love, resilience, and commitment will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest in peace, Ray, and thank you for the joy and love you brought into our lives.
