William Roddick Obituary
July 17, 1947 - February 7, 2025
William John Roddick was born in Platteville, Wisconsin, and raised in Portage,Wisconsin , son of William and Helen Roddick, both long term educators. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin , Bill spent his career dedicated to education, teaching students and adults, as well as guidance counseling. He wrote multiple books, short stories, plays and film scripts. He had a generous spirit, always ready to champion an underdog, foster leadership, and reach out with a warm smile. Spending his adult life in the Milwaukee area, he remained a proud Wisconsin sports fan, especially loving and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers,and nearby high school football. He enjoyed a good hamburger, going to the movies, and reading the newspaper daily - always staying curious about the world.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle Roddick, his daughter, Amy Blackham, and son-in-law Mark Blackham. He was a proud grandfather to Henry and Liam Blackham. He is also survived by his sisters, Jane Dana and Susan Eberle, and nephews Aaron Eberle, Ryne Eberle, and Steve Kuzminski.
William's love, humor, and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
