David S. "Chief" Raikowski

Stevens Point - David S. "Chief" Raikowski, age 85, of Stevens Point, died at Ascension St. Michaels Hospital on Sunday, January 13, 2019. Dave was born on September 18, 1933 at home in Stevens Point, a son of Stanley and Constance (Jarvis) Raikowski. He attended and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. Upon graduation, he farmed with his father on the family farm until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952, serving as an Artilleryman during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to the former Louise Pliska on June 6, 1955 at St. Peter Catholic Church. In 1961, Chief went to work for Boldt Construction and was a member of the Laborers Local #330.

David was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and his flowers, cooking, fishing and following the Packers. He and Louise enjoyed traveling to and dancing at the various Polka dances (that is how they met), playing pool and being with their large extended family, especially his many grandchildren.

Chief is survived by; his wife of 63 years, Louise; children, Frank (Cherie) Raikowski, Jerry (Bonnie) Raikowski, Dave (Margaret) Raikowski, Jr., Bill (Sheila) Raikowski, Cindi (Rick Martin) Dorshorst, Mary (Scott) Wanta, Deborah (Ken) Laczkowski, Randy (Lisa) Raikowski, Dawn (Mike) Jenner, Jack (Melinda) Raikowski, Peggy (Roland) McMahon, Bob (Lori) Raikowski and Kevin (Carita) Raikowski; 51 Grandchildren; 48 Great-Grandchildren; Siblings, John (Joan) Raikowski and Maryann (Ernie) Sniadajewski; and numerous other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by; his parents; and son-in-law, Bryan Leonard Dorshorst.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 2493 County Road M, Stevens Point at 10:30AM on Friday, January 18, 2019. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point from 4 - 7PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 concluding with a Parish Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 9:30 until the time of the Mass.

David's family would like to thank the many medical professionals and staff members for their outstanding care that they provided. A special thank you to the Rudolph Volunteer Fire and EMS for the care and compassion that was so evident when called upon.
