Dennis Kuhlka Obituary

Kuhlka, Dennis P.

Dennis P. Kuhlka, age 76, of 1026 W. Third St., Nekoosa, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Wisconsin Rapids Care Center.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15th, at Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. Military rites will be provided by the Babcock American Legion Post 322. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family.

Dennis was born April 14, 1935, in Babcock to Otto and Lauretta (Keenan) Kuhlka. He married Janette Wolf on August 7, 1958, in Waukegan, Ill.

Dennis served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by the city of Nekoosa for the Public Works Department for 29 years, retiring in 1997. He also was employed part time at Haessly's for 17 years until 1980. Dennis was a 25 year member of the Babcock American Legion Post 322. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and hunting. For many years he and Janette enjoyed their travels to Florida. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his favorite pastimes with them.

He is survived by: His wife, Janette of Nekoosa; four children, Scott (Rosa) Kuhlka of Nekoosa, Dawn Kester of Nekoosa, Christine Kuhlka of Stevens Point, Kent (Robin) Kuhlka of Wisconsin Rapids; eight grandchildren, Edward, Adrian (Jodi), Louis, Richie, Amanda (Charlie), Joshua, Aaron and Bret; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah, Shianna, Trustin and Quinn and twins Kaelyn and Saydee; three brothers, his twin, Douglas (Joye) Kuhlka of Nekoosa, Kenneth (Shirley) Kuhlka of Marshfield, David Kuhlka of Marshfield; three sisters, Jane Locey of Wisconsin Rapids, Maureen Young of Milwaukee, Juanita Szybski of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Kuhlka; and one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Osinski.
