Hanson, Dorothy A.

Dorothy A. Hanson, age 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Cranberry Court Assisted Living, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Funeral Services are 2:30 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Scott Adams will officiate. Visitation will be at Ritchay Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 PM. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery.

Dorothy was born August 19, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, WI to Donald and Iola (Ackley) Burns. She married Eugene Jim Hanson on December 22, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, while Jim was on a three day furlough. Dorothy was employed at Johnson Hills in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the Riverwood Dental Clinic in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Midwest Industrial in Wisconsin Rapids and retired from H.C. Prange's on April 21, 1991. She also served as secretary at St. John's Lutheran Church from 1992-2004.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, arts and crafts, Bingo, loved sweets, shopping with her children, loved the outdoors and fishing at Balsam Lake where she enjoyed catching large sun fish although she would not help Jim clean them. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy always loved her "piece of pie" made daily by her husband Jim.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Jim; three daughters, Julie (Ron) Steege of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Jaymie (Scott) Feenstra of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Kelley Hanson of Hudson, WI; five grandchildren, Troy Steege, Becca Feenstra, Anna Feenstra, Laura Feenstra and Tristin Rehberg; and five great grandchildren, Erin Steege, Cade Steege, Payton Rehberg, Mackenzie Rehberg and Kendall Rehberg.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be designated to the Alzheimer's Association or to Heartland Hospice.

"Dorothy's family would like thank the staffs at Cranberry Court, Our House and Heartland Hospice for the loving, compassionate care given to Dorothy."

So sorry for your loss! Sympathy and prayers are with Jim and his family! Dorthy will always be in our hearts and greatly missed everyday. Her last days were so hard taking care of Dorothy! She will always be rembered with her smile! Prayers again for all of you!
