Jean Sweet

Nekoosa - Jean Idelle Sweet, age 82, of Nekoosa died peacefully on Sunday December 10, 2017 at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2017 at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Rev. Hector Castillo will officiate. Burial will be in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:30 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Jean was born in City Point, WI on August 4, 1935 to Francis and Edna (Minchk) Hancock, Her family moved to Pittsville when she was five years old. She received her education at the Pittsville Public School. On March 1, 1952 she married John Charles Sweet at Pittsville. They resided in the Wisconsin Rapids area for ten years, moving to Nekoosa in February 1962.

Jean loved to write, and had three books published, including a country songbook, entitled Easy Country. She was a country singer/songwriter, and an artist in acrylic painting. Her other interests included gardening and watching wildlife in her back yard.

Surviving are her four sons: John Reese of Wisconsin Rapids, Ricky Carl (Debra) of Wisconsin Rapids, Randy Joe of Port Edwards and Daniel Glen (Roxanne) of Nekoosa; her two daughters Juliana (Darwin) Lee of North Dakota, and Brenda Lyn (Darren) Smith of Nekoosa; her two sisters June Hamus and Loretta (Joseph) Kiwak both of Wisconsin Rapids; 16 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one on the way and five great step great grandchildren also, former husband John C. Sweet of Nekoosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rhonda Jean Sweet, great grandson Damien Sweet, three brothers Clifford, Ronald and Richard Hancock and one sister Thelma Nehring.
