Lawrence R. Nash, age 85, of 1500 Pepper Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Larry was born December 18, 1929 in Evanston, IL to Neil and Naomi (Ritchay) Nash. He married Naomi R. Mueller on June 20, 1953 in Pewaukee, WI. She died November 8, 2010.

Larry graduated from John Edwards High School and the University of Wisconsin earning both a Bachelor of Business Administration and Doctorate of Law degrees. Following his service in the Army, Larry and his wife Naomi returned to Wisconsin Rapids, where he practiced law for over 40 years. He enjoyed active participation in the Wisconsin Bar Association, was considered an able and generous attorney, deriving satisfaction from providing legal counsel to clients of great and modest means.

Larry served on the board of directors for Consolidated Papers, Inc. and was instrumental in advising and contributing to numerous civic, educational and charitable organizations, including the Assumption High School Foundation, the Wisconsin Rapids Family Center, the Wisconsin Rapids Community Theater, the Marshfield Clinic, Renaissance Learning Corporation, and American Players Theater, amongst many. He eagerly generated interest in and support for innumerable civic and artistic causes, showing earnest and charismatic leadership.

Larry was an active member of Rotary International, an avid traveler, and at points, a birder and naturalist, hunter and fisherman, his love for each of which he taught and shared generously with all who knew him, and who will miss his wisdom and sensitivity.

Larry is survived by three children, Judy (Bill) Grow of Mequon, WI, Diane Nash Dillon of Kensington, MD and Lawrence Thomas Nash of Chicago, IL and five grandchildren, Michael, Bryan, Andrew, Alexandra and Cate.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Naomi Nash; stepmother, Lillian Nash and sister, Joanne Sigler.

The Nash family wishes to thank the staff at The Renaissance for their incredible and generous care given to Larry and Naomi in their last years.

In lieu of flowers, Larry's family asks that charitable contributions be made to the Assumption High School Foundation, the Wisconsin Rapids Community Theater or the Wisconsin Rapids Family Center.

Dear Nash Family,

I echo my brother's sentiments and memories. My last visit to Larry and Nae was in summer 2010....so good to share a few great stories and a few hearty laughs in spite of their most challenging health situation. I remember many Nash clan reunions in Wisconsin Rapids and also remember Larry's thoughtful counsel and guidance while handling all my family's legal responsibilities with regard to Consolidated and Nekoosa Edwards paper company stock. How fortunate we were to have such dear and loving (and funny) family. What an accomplished, fascinating and caring life Larry lived. In deep sympathy, Sandy Geiger, Humboldt, AZ

Dear Nash Family - I was deeply saddened today to learn of Larry's passing. (I called today to arrange a visit Friday having not done so in advance a year ago.) Larry was a cousin and dear friend to my Mother, Susan Nash Geiger. After my brother's death to polio (makes the Rotary connection all the more meaningful) and my Dad's passing, Larry was a great support to my Mother and our family. His kindness will long be remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Very best wishes, Bill Geiger

Judy, Diane and Larry I was proud to call your Dad neighbor. In 1981 he helped me guard the AHS Homecoming Float being built in my garage by the freshman class.

Nash family - we have lost a great man and a great friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I will miss Larry's wisdom, his never-ending desire to learn, his playful sense of humor, and his loyalty to those people and causes he believed in. I will miss him, but am happy he is finally free of pain.
