Oscar Erickson Obituary
Oscar "Ozzie" Erickson, age 89, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home, Port Edwards, WI.
Memorial Services are 11:00 AM Friday, September 15, 2017 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. Doug Schalow will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at Ritchay Funeral Home on Friday from 9:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park with military rites provided by America Legion Post #485 of Rudolph, WI.
Ozzie was born August 2, 1928 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Alfred and Ebba (Larson) Erickson. He married Esther V. Ubinger on October 15, 1952 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Ozzie was the manager at Northern Auto Supply in Wisconsin Rapids, WI working there for 35 years retiring on August 2, 1990.
Ozzie served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from September 1, 1951 until August 31, 1955. He was a member of the American Legion Post #485 of Rudolph, WI and the VFW Post #2534 of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Ozzie enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada and Northern Wisconsin, golfing and bowling. He was a fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers and was also a weather watcher.
Ozzie is survived by his wife, Esther; five children, Dennis (Marilyn) Erickson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Leann (Jim) Biesterfelt of Castle Rock, CO, Mick (Lynn Zynda) Erickson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Connie (Paul) LaChapelle of Littleton, CO and Steve (Jean) Erickson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; five grandchildren, Allie (fiancé- Ricky Boyd) Biesterfelt, Sara LaChapelle, Aleena (Gavin) Olson, Joe LaChapelle and Logan Erickson; three step-grandchildren, Phil (Tami) Abel, Dean (Kim) Abel and Korey Fischer and three step- great grandchildren, Kari, Kevin and Cody Abel.
Ozzie is also survived by three brothers, Gus Erickson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Gary (Michaeleen) Erickson of Rudolph, WI and Thomas (Cindy) Erickson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; one sister, Mary Ellen Zimmerman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and sister-in-law, Loretta Erickson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Ozzie was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Richard, Marvin, Jim, Bob and Al and sister, Rachael Schneider.

To Esther, Denny, Leanne, Connie, Mick and Steve, Please know how sad I am to hear this news of Ozzie's passing. I am just now reading of it on Facebook via one of my nephews. I so enjoyed visiting with him at his home in the past couple of years, loved his anecdotes and ready smile and laughter. He looked so much like my dad, Richard, I loved watching him because of that!
I'm traveiling to WR in 6 days for a wedding and was going to look in on him and Esther.......I still will visit Esther. May God grant you all peace and give you all strength while you mourn this loving man. He was also one of Bill's favorite Ericksons! My love to you all, Diane
