Schroeder, William "Bill'

William "Bill" Schroeder, 73, of Tomahawk and formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, after a long struggle with Adrenalmylonueropathy and Parkinson's Disease. Bill was born April 4, 1939, in Wisconsin Rapids, to the late Martin and Paula (Ruder) Schroeder.

He was married to Judith Bean on November 28, 1959, in Wisconsin Rapids; she survives. Bill was the Owner/Operator of Schroeder's Stores in Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids, Loyal Office Supplies, The Section, and Gift Store. He was formerly an agent for the New York Life Insurance Company. Bill was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wisconsin Rapids. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Wisconsin Rapids and the Optimist Club. He was a former board member of the Wisconsin Rapids Savings & Loan, a member of the Port Edwards Education Foundation and Former President of the Wisconsin Rapids Chamber of Commerce. Bill was the first Chapter President of the Wisconsin Rapids Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Cranmoor Skeet Club.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Schroeder; three sons, Mark William (Lori) Schroeder, Matthew Gregory Kim (Katie) Schroeder, and Jon Martin Park Schroeder; three daughters, Kristin Ann (Ed) McKenna, Lisa Kay (Jeff) Cole, and Melinda (Molly) Merten.

Bill is further survived by his sister, Sally Peterson; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Michael Merten.

Memorial Services for William "Bill" Schroeder will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012, at noon from First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Paul Veldman will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, November 24, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at noon. Dear Judy and family. We share in your sadness but it's a blessing that Bill's suffering ended.
We have many great memories of the times we spent with you and Bill and all the "offsprings". We have to dwell on those memories as a way to celebrate the lives of those who've left us.
