Ann Eggan Obituary

LITTLE FALLS - Ann J. Eggan, age 79, passed away peacefully, on June 7, 2024, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. To her family and friends, she was a symbol of strength, courage and determination. Ann was raised in Little Falls, NY and spent the majority of her life in central New York. A graduate of St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls, Ann continued her studies at CCBI in Syracuse, Mohawk Valley Community College, where she received a degree in Human Services Mental Health and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, where she received her LPN, shortly after her diagnosis with MS. Over her career, she worked for General Electric, Rome Savings Bank, Oneida Limited and McHarris Gifts.
Most important to Ann were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved to spend time with. She would play music nearly every hour of the day, mostly Elton John, James Taylor and Donna Summer and wasn't shy about dancing. She also enjoyed birds and wildlife and would spend many hours watching the bird feeders in her yard and the trespassing squirrels, who liked to rob the birds of their seeds. When she was physically able, she enjoyed traveling to different places to visit family or just for leisure. For many years, she and her husband, Ronald, would spend time at their camp in the Thousand Islands. Her favorite destination seemed to be New York City, where she once hosted a lively dinner party at a Thai restaurant in Manhattan, when her daughter graduated from medical school. She never turned down an opportunity to take Amtrak to Penn Station and visit her kids in the city. Eventually, she became a New Yorker, at heart. In Ann's later years, as the disease severely slowed her down, she did not give up on her interests or disconnect from others. She valiantly fought on and continued to be a supportive wife, sister, mother and grandmother.
Ann is pre-deceased by her husband, Ronald Eggan; her sister, Janet Mlinar; and her brother, Michael Mlinar.
She is survived by her three children: Mark O'Connor (Francesca), Lisa Craig and Patrick O'Connor (Kim); her nine grandchildren, Sofia, Isabella, Aysha, Arman, Damien, Travis, Wesley, Cillian, and Anson; her brother, Richard Mlinar (Dot); and niece, Lauren Mlinar.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: I'm supporting the National MS Society!
Ann's funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors, of the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls, NY (315) 823-2424.
