David Hall Obituary

David A. Hall It is with profound sadness that the family of Dave Hall, age 74, of Ava, announce his unexpected passing on March 19th, 2025. Dave was born in Rome on October 12th, 1950 to the late Albert & Ruby (O'Brien) Hall. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1968 and directly enlisted into the Marine Corps at the age of 17, where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War until 1972. Following this, he served in multiple branches of the military throughout his life, including but not limited to, the Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, The Air National Guard and retiring in 2010 with the Air Force at EADS. In addition, he was an honorary life member of the Lee Legion Post. Dave was also the proud owner of Dave Hall Electric for over 40 years. We are extremely grateful for Marcia Olmstead- his "organizer & keeper of his life" for over 30 years, Steve Hall, Kevin Olmstead, Greg Stiefvater, Tom Fernon and Robert Brockway for assisting in smoothly running & retiring his business over the last few years. He used his multifaceted talents & knowledge to do and fix just about anything he could in his life. He shared this information, the importance of independent success and his immense love for animals with his daughter & granddaughters, who truly were his world. Dave was an extremely caring person who would give you the shirt off his back and enjoyed the simple things in life- nature, family, animals & privacy. Dave is survived by his daughter, Brandi McCanney, granddaughters, Ariana and Alysia Pacheco, sister-in-law Angela Hall, former wife Patricia Liebi Hall (Kevin Pompa), special extra daughters he was so proud of: Gabrielle (Don) Pupecki, Justine (Dan) Joanis, Amanda (Joe) Bonanza, Tiffany (Rob) Barrett, and Julie (Brian) Balfe; and his extended family of nieces and nephews : Jaime (Bill) Huckabone, Jake (Amy) Strohl, Jessie (Chris) Bouton, Jillian ( Jason ) Swistak, Marie (Eric) Joyce, Megan (Steve) Sgambati, Jimmy (Lisa) Liebi, Troy (Dez) Liebi, Theresa (Nick) Toepp and Amy (Andrew ) Jordan. He was also very grateful for his special family friends, Jerry Switzer, Sherman Gallay, Pamela Mandryk and special companion of recent years, Ellie Litwin. Dave had many close cousins and their families that he was so fond of as well, especially his travel buddy, Uncle Earl Hall- whom he looked forward to their weekly trips for breakfast & pie at the best diners and family history lessons. Dave was predeceased by his parents Albert & Ruby Hall, brother, Edward Hall and beloved infant son Adam Hall. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 25th from 4-6 with services to follow at 6pm at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 7751 Merrick Rd, Rome, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Rome and Project Healing Waters.

Dave was a very special friend, I had known Dave many years and he was always there to any duties that needed to be done.I had many trips when we did patrols for the canoe races at Old Forge and we from the CG Base had many laugh's at happy hours after the work was done. He will always be Rember'd until we meet again some day, Dave rest in peace my special friend.

Brandi , Ariana, and Alysia,
No words can express how sorry we are that Dave has passed on.
He was a great guy who would do anything for us that he could and it has been wonderful to have him in our family. We all truly loved him and will miss him tremendously. We had a lot of laughs at his expense but he is probably laughing right with us now. He could be tough but yet he was kind and had a heart of gold. All of these things you all know already but wanted you to know how I felt and that our love for him will never die. You have such beautiful memories to hold in your heart and though it will take time you will get through this . Never ever forget how much we love you as well and you can come to me for anything!
Love you
Aunt Pam
