Dianne Fisk Obituary

Dianne H. Fisk of Munnsville, NY passed away on September 4th, 2025 at the age of 66, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Dianne was born in Rome, NY on June 1, 1959, and raised in Verona, NY. She graduated from VVS in 1977. Dianne earned an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology from Upstate Medical Center in 1979 and went on to work at St. Joseph's Imaging for many years.

Throughout her life, Dianne was heavily involved in both her family and the community, spreading sunshine wherever she went and positively impacting the lives of hundreds of people. She was an incredibly humble woman, who never sought out attention or recognition, but rather took joy in small and consistent actions that facilitated joy for others.

She loved her children, Carl and Chris Fisk, and they will be forever grateful for how deeply involved she was in their lives. When her children were old enough for Cub Scouts, she immediately volunteered to be a den mother in their pack, teaching them and dozens of other kids, shepherding them along as they moved through their early years in scouting. At times, this involved being a den mother for two different age groups at the same time - but Dianne rose to the occasion, delighting in the opportunity to be involved.

When her eldest son joined his high school's drama club, Dianne volunteered for costuming, hand-crafting countless costumes for shows. After her son graduated, she stayed on with the drama club for years, helping to facilitate their shows' success simply because she wanted to help.

When her younger son joined track and field, she never missed a meet, even when he went off to college. She would drive for hours to far-off locations just to watch him compete.

Her sons cannot adequately express how deeply they love her, and how much she will be missed.

When Dianne retired from her job, she used the extra time to become even more involved with her community, volunteering at her church's food pantry, as well as at The Great Swamp Conservancy to aid in wetland conservation.

In her spare time, Dianne's hobbies were a testament to her kind and giving spirit. She was an avid seamstress, and she spent hours sewing decorations and clothing for her friends and family - from decorative stuffed snowmen to display in winter, to stylish scarves for pets, and much more. She loved gardening, channeling her love into growing vegetables which she would use to make food for her family during their visits. She also loved camping, having both solo adventures and family experiences at campsites throughout New York and as far south as Georgia.

Dianne's life was a study in the beauty of simple goodness. She eschewed the traps of flashy consumerism, focusing on the things that truly matter: family, community, nature, and being the change you want to see in the world. Through her humble goodness, she taught us all wisdom.

Dianne has moved on now to make heaven a better place. If you see an angel wearing a stylish and seasonally festive scarf - that's her work. She joins her mother and father, Judith and Richard Hyde. For now, she leaves behind her two sons, Carl (Cait Cortelyou) Fisk and Christopher (Catherine Ficke) Fisk, her siblings, Lynda (Ned) Ferris, David (Jean) Hyde, and Katharine Hyde, along with several much loved aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves a host of friends including those from her church, TOPS club, and The Great Swamp Conservancy, and her sweet canine companion, Willow.

Calling hours for Dianne will be on Wednesday from 5-7pm at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home in Rome NY. Her funeral mass will be at 10am on Thursday at Holy Family Church in Vernon, followed by a luncheon in the church center.

True to her giving nature, in lieu of flowers, Dianne requests that donations be made to The Great Swamp Conservancy of Canasota, or the Holy Family Food Pantry.
