Frank Izzo Obituary

Dr. Frank Izzo III August 12, 1958 – October 18, 2025 Dr. Frank Izzo III, 67, of Cold Brook, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 18, 2025. Born in Flemington, New Jersey, on August 12, 1958, he was the son of Frank Izzo II and Louise Castiello. Frank was educated at Rockland County College, Albany University, and Columbia University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). He was the proud owner of Hometown Dental, where he was known as a beloved and skilled dentist. Over the years, he built a large and loyal patient base while maintaining the small-town feel his patients cherished. Frank took pride in his work, dedicating time and care to each person he treated. Many brighter, healthier smiles exist today thanks to his skilled hands and gentle approach. Soon after high school, he married Susan Batcha. Together they had a son, Peter, and two daughters, Angela and Gina. He and his wife divorced. On April 1, 2015, Frank married the love of his life, Karen Marie Hartmann. Together, they shared a life full of adventure and travel. Whether exploring foreign countries or visiting states across the U.S.-including California, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Louisiana-they loved discovering new places and visiting family. Golf was one of their shared passions, and they made it a point to play a round everywhere they went, collecting souvenir golf balls from every state they visited. Their adventures continued until Karen's passing on September 17, 2022. After retiring, Frank settled into a peaceful life in the country, where he spent his days "tinkering" with everything and anything. A true jack of all trades, he could fix almost anything-from cars and electrical wiring to pouring concrete and installing solar panels and even a mini windmill. When he wasn't working on a project, he enjoyed walking through the woods or kayaking on nearby ponds. He dreamed of simple living on a homestead, and that's exactly how he lived his final years-quietly, purposefully, and joyfully. Family was everything to Frank. He often said his family made him "the richest man," and he cherished his relationships with each of them-his children, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was immensely proud of his children and their accomplishments, and he loved his grandchildren dearly. Every visit to "Grandpa's" meant a new adventure or project-whether digging up a water line or measuring the pond's depth from the kayak. He never missed a chance to cheer them on at football games, and they could always count on hearing his enthusiastic cheers from anywhere on the field. Frank is survived by his son, Peter (Jennifer) Izzo of California; his daughters, Angela Izzo (Nicholas) of Holland Patent, NY, and Gina (Jacob) Sliter of Virginia, Lucinda Izzo and Josephine Izzo; his brothers, Gerard Conte and Vincent (Francesca) Izzo; his sister, Josephine Conte; and six beloved grandchildren-Lauren, Wyatt, Sean, Jack, Aria, and Noah. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 4 to 7 P.M. at Strong – Burns & Sprock Funeral Home 7751 Merrick Road, Rome N.Y.
