Joseph J. Putnam

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Joseph J. Putnam, age 67, Canadarago Street, passed away on Friday evening October 17, 2025 in Bassett Medical Center. Joseph was born on March 22, 1958, in Herkimer, a son to the late Albert J. and Emma G. Tooley Putnam. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs and was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School. After high school he furthered his education at Herkimer County Community College, receiving an Associates Degree and later transferring to SUCO, Oneonta, where he received his Bachelors of Science. He worked for the Department of Environmental Conservation. He then received his teaching certificate and became a biology teacher in the Milford School District. Joseph enjoyed fishing, watching football and many movies. He liked to play tennis, he collected coins, and enjoyed using his telescope to study space. He is survived by his brother Kevin Putnam of Richfield Springs, two sisters Susan Putnam of Richfield Springs and Amy Young of Schuyler Lake, an uncle Ernie Putnam of Cherry Valley, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Putnam in 2004. Funeral services for Mr. Putnam will be private and held at the convenience of his family.
