June Fanelli Obituary

UTICA – Mrs. June F. (Garramone) Fanelli, age 94, was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband George on Monday, November 4, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Utica on July 7, 1930, June was the daughter of the late Rocco G. and Viola B. (Crossley) Garramone.
On April 29, 1950, June united in matrimony with George A. Fanelli. Their union brought the blessing of four children who live on to continue the family's legacy. The couple shared 28 years prior to George's passing on June 11, 1978.
June's maternal instincts were an asset to her children and others outside their home. She often served as the "Room Mother" at her children's school. June was resilient and never wavered in her dedication to her beliefs and convictions. Her meticulous home was a testament to her skills as a homemaker. Everyone felt welcome in her home. Later in life, she kept busy working at the Seneca Boot Shoe Store, and then at Parkway Drugs.
Family was the cornerstone of June's being. The holidays were always a large celebration with valued traditions. Every day she cooked and baked because her whole life was dedicated to her family. She was an active part of the everyday lives of her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Grandma J." She was delighted to continue this tradition with her great-grandchildren. The precious memories she made during her time spent with each of them filled her heart with immense joy.
June is survived by her children and their spouses, Marilyn and Joseph "J.C." Leone, Camille Fanelli, Georgene and Rich Ambruso, and Gaetano "Guy" and Lauran Fanelli; beloved grandchildren, David and Michele Campola, June and Peter Preisner; Alicia and Anthony DeSarro, Marlaina and Dominick Morbidini; Amara Ambruso, Ryan Ambruso, Alec Ambruso; Nicholas Fanelli and his fiancée Michelle Williams, and Marisa Fanelli and her fiancé Aaron Terry; cherished great-grandchildren, Anthony, and Sophia Campola; Peter Preisner; Adrianna, Anthony, and Alexander DeSarro; and Giovanni, Sophia, and Giuliana Morbidini; her sisters, Carol J. Conino and the memory of her late brother-in-law Andrew Conino, and Bonnie Ann Paratore and the memory of her late brother-in-law Peter Paratore. She fondly remembered her brother and sister-in-law, Francis "Sonny" and Carol Garramone, who preceded her in death. She further leaves numerous nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to all the departments of Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, especially the second-floor staff, for the care and professionalism given to June.
The family will honor and commemorate her life at a private time. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend June's Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life, which will commence on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the conclusion of Mass. Memorial contributions in June's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org/donate; envelopes will also be available at the service. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
