Karen Newell Obituary
Bartow, FL / Morris, NY
Karen E. Newell, 41, passed away on October 11, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida. Born on February 28, 1984, in Oneonta, New York, she was the beloved daughter of Mike and Deb (Goodier) Newell.
Karen was a proud 2002 graduate of Morris Central School and Milford BOCES.
Over the years, she embraced many different jobs-never afraid to try something new. Her fearless spirit, sharp wit, and street smarts carried her through life with confidence and purpose.
On June 29, 2019, Karen married the love of her life, Heather Jennings. Together, they built a loving home and family, raising their children Wyatt, Av, and Cade Jennings-Newell. Karen's greatest joy came from being a mom. She loved her children deeply and was known for organizing fun-filled family parties and get-togethers that brought laughter and warmth to everyone around her.
Karen was formerly a member of the Morris Fire Department and EMS, where she gave her time to help others in her community. Karen quickly realized that the Fire Department was not a good idea when she ended up in the back of the ambulance when she was at a barn fire and the smoke got her asthma going. She continued with EMS and got her mom to join as well.
She had a fun-loving nature and an infectious spirit that drew people in. Whether starting a new job or planning a celebration, she approached life with enthusiasm and heart.
She is survived by her spouse, Heather Jennings- Newell; her cherished children, Wyatt, Av, and Cade; her parents Mike and Deb Newell; her sister, Tonya (Jason) Rearick; her in-laws Doug and Bonnie Jennings, her special aunt, Marie (Brendon) Goodier; her grandmother, Liz Newell; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who adored her. She was predeceased by her grandparents Elwyn Goodier, Bill Newell, Norine and Ernest Feola.
Her family will Celebrate her Life at Hillington Cemetery in the Spring of 2026 at a date that will be announced in the future. Karen will be remembered for her love of life, her dedication to family, and her ability to bring people together with laughter and love.
Karen's family has entrusted her local arrangements to Edd Stanimer of the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris. Memorial contributions in Karen's name can be made to Morris EMS, PO Box 452 Morris, NY 13808.
