Katherine V. Light

Katherine V. Light, 93, passed away on October 15, 2024, at Masonic Care Community, with her family by her side.
She was born, March 7, 1931, in Utica, NY, a daughter of Jasper and Mary Guido Crescent. Katherine received her education in Utica Schools. She was united in marriage to Albert W. Light in 1954, in Utica. He died in 1996. Katherine held various positions over the years, but her most important and favorite role was that of mother and grandmother. Mrs. Light was a devout Roman Catholic. She had been an active member of a Bible study group. She was a fabulous cook, and an avid reader. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her four children, Richard Light and Laurie Dowell, Utica, Annette and Chuck Chafee, Cedar Lake, Janet and Todd Jury, Clinton, and Jeffrey and Melissa Light, Ocean Springs, MS; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Light; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Peter Crescent, Ralph Crescent, Edward (Doug) Crescent, and Rosemary Clark; and her daughter-in-law, Regina Light.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Masonic Home Monroe Unit, for the care and compassion shown to Katherine during her time there.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Church, 16 Park Ave., Whitesboro, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The family will receive callers following the service. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, will be at the convenience of the family.
