Kevin McDonald Obituary

Kevin W. McDonald, Sr., 62, passed away with his family by his side, sending him on to "where his troubles will be less and his blessings will be more", on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Katherine Luther Residential Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born on August 9, 1961, in Utica, he is the son of the late William and Shirley (Peters) McDonald, Sr. On January 23, 1982, Kevin married Ann Marie Everett in Ovid, New York, a loving union of 42 years. Kevin worked in Occupational Rehabilitation with the New York State Department of Mental Health until his retirement. He was an active member of the Elks where he served as past Exalted Ruler B.P.O.E. Elks Utica Lodge #33 and Past State Vice President of the New York State Elks Association. Kevin loved to sing karaoke, dance, tell bad jokes, drink good scotch and spend time out with family and friends. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed golf. He loved baseball which he played until adulthood and then he played softball for many years. He had many sayings, some Irish, some gibberish but always "Ain't no doubt about it" Surviving besides his wife, Ann are two children and their spouses, Andrea and Adam Pinkos and Kevin and Brandes McDonald, Jr.; brother, William McDonald, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Michael Puleo and in-laws, Todd and Joann Everett and Timothy and Pam Everett. Kevin leaves six cherished grandchildren, Juliet Abrams (Kevin), Johnathan Chaya, Mireya Pinkos, Joshua Chaya, Kennedy McDonald, and Braeden McDonald; mother-in-law, Shirley Everett, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. There are also many friends he thought of as family. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Kowalczyk & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. A prayer service by B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #33 will commence at 6 p.m. followed by concluding prayers. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Family would like to express their love and gratitude to all the staff of Katherine Luther Residential, especially the Bryant Unit. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Kevin's name may be made to B.P.O.E. Utica Elks Lodge # 33 to benefit their Drug Awareness programs. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
