Raymond Randall Obituary
Raymond L. Randall, 88, of Delphi Falls, a beloved member of our community and a man whose life was defined by excellence, dedication and kindness, passed away peacefully Monday, October 20, 2025, at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Delphi Falls on March 22, 1937, to Clarence and Marjorie Randall and was a graduate of Fabius High School, Class of '56 where he excelled in baseball, basketball, and track. Ray was well known for his extraordinary athletic talents. He was a gifted pitcher and achieved what few ever do, he pitched a perfect game forever etching his name in local sports history. His remarkable accomplishments on the field led him into the Fabius Sports Hall of Fame, a recognition he accepted with gratitude and grace. Ray also excelled on the bowling lanes where he bowled an astonishing four perfect 300 games.
A self-taught musician, Ray, learned at an early age how to play by ear, not by reading music. He was well-known throughout Central New York as the singer/guitarist and leader of Ray Randall and the Rhythmaires; a country and western band that began in 1957. In the same year, his band was featured on TV station WNDR which was one of the highlights of Ray's career. In 2024, Ray was inducted into the NY State Country Music Hall of Fame, which was an incredible honor to him. He was still playing music and calling square dances up until his death.
Ray was also an avid outdoorsman who found peace and joy in nature, whether hunting or casting a line in his favorite fishing spot. He was a member of the N.R.A. and the Pompey Rod and Gun Club.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Ray's heart was always with his community as the superintendent of the Delphi Falls Cemetery. He served with great care, compassion, and respect, ensuring that every family and loved one was treated with dignity. His work reflected the kind of man he was, devoted, thoughtful and always ready to lend a hand.
Ray was employed for a brief time at General Electric prior to establishing Randall Construction. Ray, along with his wife, Jane, also owned The Delphi Falls General Store from 1980 to 2005.
Upon his retirement, he and his wife, Jane, spent the winters at the Country Aire Village in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he would spend the afternoons playing music and having jam sessions with his friends.
Ray will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for his warmth, humor, and generosity he shared so freely. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, kindness and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Ray is survived by his children, Mitchell (Corinne) Randall of Delphi Falls, David (Lorraine) Randall of Fabius and Joanne (Paul) Oot of Kirkville; his brother, James (Linda) Randall of Delphi Falls; his sister-in-law, Jackie Randall of Manlius; 46 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
