Ret. UFD Mr. Frederick R. Luongo

UTICA – Mr. Frederick R. Luongo, Ret. UFD, age 82, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, in the comfort and dignity of his home. Born in Geneva, NY, on May 10, 1943, Frederick was the son of the late Ralph and Rose M. (Sacheli) Luongo. As a child, he and his family moved to Utica, where he attended school and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On July 6, 1966, Frederick united in marriage with the former Roseann Giovinazzo, with whom he shared over 58 years in a loving and devoted union. Frederick dedicated several decades serving and protecting his community as a Fireman with the Utica Fire Department. Frederick is survived by his wife, Roseann; daughter, Karen Luongo; sons, Christopher Luongo, and Jason Luongo; grandchildren, Trinity Mathias, and Aria Mathias; and sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and David Hathaway. He fondly remembered his brother and sister-in-law who preceded him, Ralph P. Sr. and Marjorie Luongo. He is additionally survived by nieces and nephews, John Luongo, Sr., Ralph P. Jr. and Brigitta Luongo; David Hathway; Cheryl and Edward Coffin, and Dennis R. Giovinazzo II; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and in-laws, Robert J. "Givo" Giovinazzo (the late Kathryn M. "Kathy" (Laria) Giovinazzo), and Dennis and Julie Giovinazzo. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paschal "Pat Givo" and Josephine J. (Graziano) Giovinazzo. In honoring Frederick's wishes, there will be no public services. His family will honor and commemorate his life privately. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
