Roberta S. Walsh

Roberta S. Walsh, 72, of Newport, N.Y., passed away on October 18, 2025, as a result of oral cancer. She was born on January 20, 1953, in Rome, N.Y., a daughter of the late John and Barbara (Abruzzio) Seaton. She graduated from Rome Free Academy with the class of 1971. Roberta was united in marriage to Stephen J. Walsh on July 20, 1974, at St. Mary's Church in Rome. As a small child, Roberta was inspired to become a librarian by Dorothy Nunez Sins. A graduate of SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Albany, she retired in 2010 from the Macdonald DeWitt Library at Ulster County Community College. Roberta was a collector of books, frogs, Hitty dolls, and tarot cards. Roberta enjoyed doing research and contributed chapters to several local history books. She had articles about jewelry and knives published in national magazines. She also contributed to Wikipedia and took pictures for FindAGrave. She was a life member of MENSA. In addition to her husband, she is survived by nieces, nephews, one grand-niece, and numerous cousins. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and both of her brothers, John and Roger. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Slava Ukraini.
