James Brownlee Obituary
James Donald Brownlee, age 64 of rural Lafayette, passed away at 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in Mulberry Health in Mulberry. He was born in Hibbing, MN February 19, 1961 son of the late Wayne D. and Elfleda Lamphere Brownlee. He married Andrea Holtman in Hibbing, MN on August 27, 2010.
Jim was a 1978 graduate of Hibbing High School. He was employed for many years as a Lab Manager for Lerch Bros. But one of his favorite 'gigs' was the time he spent employed in a nursing home. He and Andrea moved back to the Lafayette area in 2020.
Being called Jimmy, would make his eyes light up…he was a colorful and unique individual who was incredibly quick witted and never met a stranger. He wrote poetry, loved fishing, birdwatching and very protective of his family. He loved Andrea, his family and his special time with grandchildren. He attended the West Point United Methodist Church with Andrea and he loved hugging on the 'church ladies' which he lovingly referred to as his harem. He was proud to recently accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Surviving are: his children; daughter Jennifer (Andy) Johnston and their children, Sammy & Mikaela. A daughter Ashley Brownlee (Cody) and her children Austin & Max. His wife, Andrea Joann Holtman Brownlee and her children; son Tyler (Leanna) Anthrop and their children Gracie, Heaven & William, son Jacob Anthrop and his daughter Alayna, daughter Serena Anthrop and her children Wesley & Waylon. He is also survived by his siblings: sisters; Aileen Manner and Denise Brownlee. Brothers: Alan (Rene) Brownlee, Dale (Jane) Brownlee and John (Cindi) Brownlee. His mother-in-law Sandra Holtman and Andrea's brothers: Alan (Christine) Holtman, Aaron (Paula) Holtman and Matthew (Kimberly) Holtman. He also had several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Cindi Brownlee, and granddaughter Dixie Rose Miller.
