Matthew Denver Stopp, 68, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away Thursday, March 21st, 2024, at his residence. He is survived by his son, Dustin (Amy) Stopp, daughter Bethany (Fredrik) Tuvene, and grandchildren Jack, Owen and Charlotte Stopp, and Stanley and Millie Tuvene.
Matt was born in Wilmington, Ohio on October 4th,1955 to Ralph G. Stopp and Kathryn (Williams) Stopp, both who predeceased him. He also had a brother, Jerry Stopp, and a beloved son, Brandon Stopp, who also predeceased him.
Matt graduated from Wilmington High School in 1974. He then attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He was a big lover of Rock and Blues music his entire life. He played the bass and guitar in several bands, most notably the Blue Sky Band, in Ohio during his younger years. He then moved to Arizona in the late 1970's. He was an employee of the United States Postal Service in the Phoenix area for many years, after which he had several business ventures during his lifetime.
Matt was a lover of travel. His favorite places to travel with his family were San Diego, Maui, and his mountain home in Payson, Arizona. He enjoyed cooking, writing music, watching comedy movies and old Westerns, and more than anything just spending quality time with family and friends.
Matt also leaves many cousins, close friends and special caregivers in both Arizona and Ohio. He was a lover of dogs and had many canine companions throughout his years. His most recent dog, a Doberman named Maddie, was a joy in his life as were his previous Dobermans Sadie and Mocha.
A graveside interment will occur Thursday, April 4th at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale. Following the ceremony, a Celebration of Life will be held at Isabella's Kitchen in Scottsdale. Both events are by invitation from the family.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Arizona Humane Society.

I knew him from Wilmington HighSchool until he moved to Arizona My Condolences to His Family and Friends. Matt was a good Guy.

So sorry for your loss. I played baseball with Matt during our recreation league days. Matt was a kind man and will be missed dearly. I'm praying for peace during this difficult time.
