I wanted to recognize what a unique gift Mariola had for making other people feel special - as if they had super powers. I worked with her in Houston alongside some of the most brilliant scientists and doctors, and for whatever reason she chose to invest her time, energy, and kindness in me. That meant so much to me as a young scientist embarking on a new career in DC. Maybe it was my love for polish soup or my trip to Wroclaw - whatever it was, I´m grateful for her generosity and for reminding me of the impact we can have on people with just a little bit of time and intention. Thank you Mariola.
