Nicholas Thomas Sieving

Nicholas Thomas Sieving, 19, of The Woodlands died July 5, 2016. A service celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 3:00 pm at The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

Nick was born January 10, 1997, in Bakersfield, California. At the age of 4, he moved to Pacific Palisades, California where he resided until the family relocated to Texas in 2007. He graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2015 and went on to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder and start his own computer coding business.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Jan Sieving, his sister, Devon Sieving, maternal grandmother, Judi Dana, paternal grandparents, Norm and Marge Sieving, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William H. Dana.

Nick's great passion for hockey began at age 11/2 with the gift of an NHL book. He became obsessed and played for hours in his Ducks jersey, extra diaper for padding, and improvised helmet with any opponent he could recruit, including the dog. He started ice hockey at age 7 in LA, later playing for the Houston Hitmen and Houston Wild travel teams racking up several regional championships. He played three years for The Woodlands High School, which culminated in two high school championships. His junior year, Nick played at the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Penticton, BC, Canada.

Nick's family fosters golden retrievers and Nick had a special ability to connect with dogs. He did great work over the years helping transition neglected dogs to loving homes. He especially loved his own dogs, Carly, Bauer, and Archer.

He will be remembered for his intellect, his dry wit and his authenticity. He wasn't inclined to sugarcoat anything, so if Nick paid you a compliment, you could be certain it was genuine.

Nick was a true original.

There are no words in the English language adequate to express the sorrow and grief that goes along with losing a child . I did not know your son, but I too lost a child recently who was a student at TWHS.
Know that others are praying for your family and Nicholas .
