Roma Watson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of Roma McCaffrey Watson on March 9, 2025. Roma was born in Ackerman, Mississippi, and lived most of her early years in Cleveland, Mississippi. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee after attending Delta State College. Memphis is where she met and married her husband, Charles E. (Chuck) Watson, and where their daughter, Lisa Suzanne Watson King, was born. From Memphis, they moved to Houston with Chuck, who worked for Delta Air Lines for thirty-seven years.

During her adult years, Roma was officers of local PTA's, always a room mother, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, officers in the Oak Ridge North Garden Club, The Woodlands Women's Tennis Association, Sunday school teacher, substitute teacher, and was the first woman to be elected to the Oak Ridge North Water District Board of Directors. She spent many years playing tennis at The Woodlands Country Club from 1978 to 2014 and loved her tennis friends through the years, being a captain of her different teams for 30 plus years, well as soon as she learned to keep score she was "elected".

Roma loved her pups from her first, Boots, who had four white legs, then marriage and a daughter brought along Thursday, on to Punkin, Connie, Frances, Savanah and Sarah. After her first loves of Chuck and Lisa, she loved her pups and tennis, and then she loved to laugh and dance.

She is predeceased by wonderful Chuck, her husband of 62 years, and by her sweet Lisa and all of her family. She is survived by her son-in-law, William King, The Woodlands, Texas, and friends.

As requested, there will be no memorial service.
