Claire M. Belshaw

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Claire M. Belshaw, 88, of North Smithfield, passed way Jan. 28, surrounded by her loving family. Claire was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Creamer) Belshaw.

She was the mother of the late Michael J. Belshaw. She was the sister of the late Ruth Manigan. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Bibeault, with whom she lived; a nephew, James Manigan; two nieces, Jan Peso and Nancy Dwyer; and many grand nephews and nieces.

Claire was a lifelong resident of North Smithfield. She worked for many years at the rubber shop, and when that closed, she studied to become a licensed practical nurse. She was a caring nurse at Zambarano Hospital and Friendly Nursing Home. She was an avid Patriots fan, but loved to razz the Red Sox, since her son was a Yankees fan. Claire was a selfless woman who always put others before herself. She was the best aunt anyone could have asked for. Our family was very lucky to call her our own. We take comfort in the fact that she has joined her son in Heaven. She will be sorely missed.
