Ernest J. Rochefort

WOONSOCKET - Ernest J. Rochefort, 91, of Woonsocket, RI passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Eunice T. (Masse) Rochefort for 68 years. Born in Woonsocket, RI on November 21, 1925, he was the son of the late Ovila and Eva (Remillard) Rochefort. He was the loving father of Elaine T. Gueutal and her husband, Gordon of Windham, CT, Robert F. Rochefort of Woonsocket, RI, Jeanne E. Tronti and Brian Pomerleau of Woonsocket, RI, and his late son-in-law Leo Gagne. He leaves his cherished 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Albert and Normand Rochefort both of Woonsocket and the late Roland Rochefort.
He was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket and was a dockworker at Axton Cross in Holliston, MA for many years until retiring.
He was a United States Navy World War II Veteran, Seaman, First Class, on the USS Fremont and received the World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area (6 stars), Philippine Liberation (2 stars) Commendation.
Mr. & Mrs. Rochefort were avid campers and were very family oriented. His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren and great - grandchildren, and his beloved dog "Benson". He will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 25th at 10:00AM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Monday, July 24th from 5PM to 8PM. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Ernest J.
