Ferdinand Santucci Obituary

WOONSOCKET - Fred Santucci, also known to friends and family as "Tiny," joined the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016.

Fred leaves many memories to be cherished by his devoted wife Donna (Hurst) Santucci. They were married Dec. 1, 1973.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Christine Gauvin and son-in-law, Jeffrey Gauvin of Shrewsbury, Mass.
He leaves his cherished and precious grandchildren, Joshua and Rebecca Gauvin as well as his nephew and "best bud" Christopher Hurst, who was like a son to him. He was the adored "Uncle Tiny" to many nieces and nephews and children whom he enjoyed entertaining with his fishing and hunting stories. He was the son of the late Ferdinand and Gertrude (Paquette) Santucci of North Smithfield. He is also the son-in-law of Francis and Pearl Hurst of Woonsocket. He was the brother of Sharon Santucci of North Smithfield, Ralph Santucci and his wife Karen of Ellicott City, Md., and Gary Santucci and his companion, Brenda Martel of Harrisville.

Fred was a 1972 graduate of North Smithfield High School. He worked for Avery Dennison for 20 years and Grayers Machine Shop before retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Woonsocket Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and Harley Davidson enthusiast who rode with integrity and pride.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Road Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 9 a.m.

Fred's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that quality of existence exceeds quality of time in which one lives. Most importantly he was a family man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law and a loyal friend to many who will hold them in their hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, and in Fred's honor, do something kind for someone you love, don't take your health for granted and live to the fullest every chance you get.

Donna, Gary, Chris and family,
So sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He was a good guy, always a pleasant attitude and a smile on his face when talking with him. The steak fries on Saturday nights at WLR&GC were some of the best times. He will be sadly missed.
Thinking of you all,
