Gerard Langlois Obituary

PAWTUCKET - Gerard "Jerry" Wilfred Langlois, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon at the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Sarah Jane (Cherry) Langlois.

A lifelong resident of Pawtucket (at least in spirit), he was the son of the late George E. & Anita (Marcil) Langlois. He was the twin brother of the late George E. Langlois Jr.

He is survived by his two sisters, Jeanne (Langlois) Gomes and Pauline Langlois, both of Rumford; two sons, Michael Langlois of Cromwell, Conn., and James Langlois of Lincoln; two daughters, Jane (Langlois) Bodell of Uxbridge, and Linda (Langlois) Burchfield of North Providence, RI; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry worked for Nissen Bakery in Central Falls for over 30 years; for the Valley Falls Housing for the Elderly in Central Falls for over 15 years; and for the Pawtucket Animal Shelter.

A man of character who never had a bad word to say about anyone, he taught his family the value of a strong work ethic and core family values. Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. A longtime member of the LeFoyer Club in Pawtucket and a member of the Bakery and Confectionary Union for over 60 years, Jerry loved his wife, his family, and the Red Sox, in that order! He was able to not only see his dream of the Red Sox winning one World Series in his lifetime, but three! He died a very happy man!!!

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hope Hospice and Pallative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Jerry. My condolences to his family.
I go back well over 40 years of knowing Jerry and Jane. Jerry was a "good guy".
He was a hard working man and always a good family man.
