Harry Gawronski Obituary

BLACKSTONE - Harry E. Gawronski, age 87, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully in the skies above Nebraska about 2 hours away from his final destination, Las Vegas, NV with family by his side on January 27, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Carole (Battista) Gawronski, he was born in Dunkirk, NY on March 28,1935 son of the late Ignatius Gawronski and late Cecelia (Bernatowicz) Gawronski. Loving father of Marc and his wife Cindi Gawronski of Frisco, TX, Michael and his wife Michele Gawronski of Foxboro, MA, Lisa and her husband John Houle of Blackstone, MA. Devoted grandfather of Ryan, Connor, Daniel, Michael, Trevor and Ciara. Brother of the late Virginia Corbin of Fredonia, NY, late Rita (Halas) Bremer of Fort Pierce, FL, late John (Jack) Gawronski of Dunkirk, NY, and William Gawronski of Palm Coast, FL.

Resident of Blackstone for 58 years formerly of Dunkirk, NY. Harry attended the Dunkirk Industrial High School in the 1950's. He was a Surface Grinder operator at Stanley Tool & Die Works for 2 years after high school before enlisting in the US Marine Corp becoming a decorated veteran in the Korean War. After the war he spent time working at Polaroid Corp in Waltham, MA before becoming a member of the United Auto Workers union while working at General Motors in Framingham, MA as a painter.

Retiring over 30 years ago, Harry enjoyed golfing over 40 years in the Ho Ho Golf league and many years bowling in the Wednesday Automotive Bowling league in Woonsocket, RI. He also loved shooting pool and playing cards. He was an active member of the Blackstone Polish-American Citizen Club and enjoyed watching sports, especially the New England Patriots.

Always charismatic and quick witted, he gave those near him reason to smile and laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren being devoted to his family. He will be greatly missed, especially at the casinos where he supported the local economy. Harry was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of St Theresa's Parish in Blackstone, MA.

The Gawronski family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation at Divine Mercy Parish (formerly St. Paul's), 48 St. Paul Street Blackstone, MA on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated following visitation at 11:00 a.m. A private family Christian burial will be scheduled at a later date. MY condolences with the family. I didn't know Harry, But my husband Richard did and were very good bowling friends. Richard passed away, it made nine years last month. But he did enjoy his bowling and the friends he made there.

I delivered meals to harry. Always at his table working on a puzzle. Once done I would order a frame for him and as he watched I would slide it on. I think he was waiting for a disaster. I miss him. A true friend..

This name seemed familiar to me. Then, I saw he worked at G M and he bowled. My husband Dick Demers, worked at GM and bowled. I think they worked together and bowled. Not sure if it was the same team. But as I said, this name looked familiar. My husband died in 2014.My condolences to your family.
