Jacqueline Morrissey Obituary

Jacqueline Y.

Morrissey

NORTH SMITHFIELD - We are deeply saddened to announce that Jacqueline Jackie Y. (Lafleche) Morrissey, 59, of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away on January 18, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Marcel and Cecile (Beausoliel) Lafleche of Woonsocket, Rhode Island and the wife of Mark Morrissey whom she married on June 15, 2002.

Jackie was the sole proprietor of Jackie's Electrolysis Salon in North Smithfield for several years in the early 1990s. For the last 25 years, she greeted customers daily with a warm smile as a U.S. Postal Carrier in the quaint town of Franklin Massachusetts. Daily stresses of sorting and delivering endless volumes of mail and parcels were lessened by working alongside her wonderful sister, Rita Harris. They would regularly exchange quick quips and funny facial expressions to get through busy times with laughter. She held a special place in her heart for her elderly customers and their pets. This included a walk up to the front door with newspapers, mail, packages, treats for furry friends, and a welcoming smile. She often confessed to taking extra time away from duty, to sit and talk with a select few customers like Barbara.

Jackie deeply loved her large family. She organized birthday breakfasts, holiday gatherings, and family vacations. She would stop by with a cup of coffee or a hot meal and quickly drop it off if you were too busy to sit and talk. She made sure to be available for frequent phone calls (coffee talk) with her sister and brother from afar; 'Lou' who moved to Hawaii in 2014 to care for elderly family, and 'Ricky' throughout the last 35 years of military and Department of Defense service. She helped her local family schedule and keep doctor appointments. She sat alongside cancer treatments for hours, discussed options with doctors, and kept everyone informed. Through it all, she was always focused on keeping her family together.

Jackie cherished quality time with her children, grandchildren and loving husband. She looked forward to predicting and watching the Oscars each March with her son Joshua. She would steal away to her son, Corey and daughter in law, Victoria's house on days off to spend countless hours with her girls; Victoria, dear Sophia and her puppy Luna. She fondly recalled the many overnight visits to Memeres house by her grandson, Kaiden and wouldnt miss his concerts or Lacrosse game faceoffs. She was fiercely competitive at Friday 'game nights' with the Morrissey Elders. Jackie also shared the love of music with her husband, Mark. She would play the piano or guitar while singing in the mornings. They would test her self-taught musical lessons by frequent visits to their favorite local bands and singing wonderful renditions at karaoke.

Along with her husband, Jackie is survived by; her son Joshua Robitaille, of Bellingham; her son, Corey Robitaille and his wife, Victoria, and grandchildren, Kaiden and Sophia, of North Smithfield; her sisters Louise Saito of Hawaii, Rita Harris, Trish Lafleche and the late Celeste Lafleche, of Woonsocket; her brothers Ronald, Russell, David, and Joseph of Woonsocket; and Richard of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 with visitation from 1-4pm, followed by a service at 4PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to NAMI, PO Box 49104 Baltimore, MD 21297 or online at https://www.nami.org/
