Jean Paul Darveau

BLACKSTONE - Jean Paul "Frenchy" Darveau, age 82 passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 25th, 10 am at St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Road, Woonsocket, RI. "Celebration of Life" to follow at Millerville Men's Club, 8 LLoyd St., Blackstone, MA.

Jean-Paul was born

on June 1, 1941, in Saint Joseph-de-Ham-Sud, Province of Quebec, Canada. Jean was a beloved Dad, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend, known for his warm, welcoming and fun personality.

In his younger days, he served in the Army Corp of Engineers in Vietnam from January 4, 1966, to December 27, 1967. His military service was a testament to his dedication and commitment.

Professionally, Jean was a successful entrepreneur. He owned and ran three businesses throughout his life. He was the proud owner of JP Construction, where he built houses. He also operated JD Drywall, specializing in commercial buildings and later on, opened James Pub on Main, a popular bar in the community.

Jean had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time at Cape Cod's Race Point Beach, he had a passion for hunting in the Berkshire Mountains and Canada and enjoyed a yearly vacation to Aruba.

Jean is survived by his loving daughter, Denise Brogan, and son-in-law, Donald Brogan, both of Palm Bay, FL. He leaves behind his cherished grandson, James Brogan, and granddaughter, Taylor Brogan. Jean is also survived by his nieces, Helen (Darveau) Farmer of CT and Diane (Darveau) Daley of CT and nephews Michael Darveau of North Smithfield, RI, Dennis Darveau of North Smithfield, RI, and Robert (Bobby) Darveau of CT.

Jean was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Darveau, of Woonsocket, RI, and his parents, Lucienne (Paiment) Darveau and Arthur Darveau, both of Sherbrooke, Canada.
