John Cormier Obituary
A World War II Navy veteran and 1947 graduate of the former Hill College, Mr. Cormier worked over 25 years, retiring as an auditor for the former Rhode Island Hospital Trust. He also worked as an accountant for the State of Rhode Island and volunteered for the Albion Fire Department for over 20 years. John was a coin and stamp collector, loved the outdoors, bird watching and fishing. His family and friends will remember him as a kind, loving, gentle companion, and hard-working family man.
He is survived by his children, John Cormier and his wife, Linda, of Slatersville, and Michelle Taylor and her husband, Bill, of Albion; his companion's daughter, Elizabeth Martin, and her husband, James, of Slatersville; his grandchildren, Sean Peckham, Catherine Seiler, Jillian Wheeler, and Jon and Michael Martin; and three great-grandchildren, Libby Seiler, and Cabot and Abigail Wheeler. He was the brother of the late Maj. Robert, Theresa, and Marguerite Cormier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
