Joseph K. Henderson

1925 - 2016

BELLINGHAM - Joseph K. Henderson, 90, of Bellingham, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Blaire House, Milford, MA. Married for 67 years, he is the beloved husband of the late Mary Alice (Arsenault) Henderson. Joseph is the loving father of the late Brian Henderson and is survived by son John "Jack" and wife Connie Henderson of Bellingham, MA, daughter Patricia and husband Fred Marzetta of Blackstone, MA, son Kenneth and wife Jean Henderson of Bath, ME, son Richard and wife Lee Henderson of Blackstone, MA, and son Wayne and wife Marcy of Cape Coral, FL. He leaves his cherished 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
Born in New Haven, CT on September 15, 1925, the son of the late William W.S. and Edith (Hempstead) Henderson, Joseph was one of 13 children.
Joseph was a resident of Bellingham for 63 years, formerly of Waltham where he was raised. He worked as a railroad conductor for 39 years for Conrail (previously Penn Central, NY Central and Boston & Maine). He also owned automotive and home improvement businesses.
Joseph was active for many years at the Bellingham Senior Center and, more recently, in the Senior Men's Group. He was a talented musician playing both keyboard and guitar. He was an avid reader. He was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific aboard the USS Half Moon. Joseph was a member of the VFW Post 7272 in Bellingham and served as a Past Commander.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 9th at 8:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Monday, February 8th from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Center, 20 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757.
