Judith Booker Obituary

BLACKSTONE - Judith Ann (Johnson) Booker, 70, of Blackstone, MA died April 26, 2015. She was the wife of Jeffrey L. Booker. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mildred Johnson.
Judy, as a former DCDS for Wrentham State School, worked many years with disabled Clients. In addition, Judy coordinated special activities in the successful fund raising campaigns for the disabled. Many of the clients during holidays and special events had a one on one sponsor from the New England Patriots which she was totally committed to. Shortly after her career with Wrentham State, she became involved with nursing homes as an Activities Director in Sheldonville, MA and Pascoag, RI, then later obtained her Nurses Aide License in MA and RI. She was adamant for the rights of the disabled. As time went by, Judith decided she wanted to obtain her Postal Carrier License and she did so working part time in Blackstone, MA. While residing in Blackstone, her hometown, Judith was a significant contributor to the fund raising campaign to save the Blackstone Gorge. Her fund raising efforts contributed immensely in the success of this Bi-State Park now part of The National Heritage Corridor aka, The High Rock Gorge. A formal ceremony was held to commend the success of all participants who dedicated their time and effort to make these events a reality. Attending the ceremony were MA and RI Governors Bill Weld and Bruce Sundland also including Selectman, Local Dignitaries and Officials of The Blackstone National Heritage Corridor. The ceremony held at The Rolling Dam, Blackstone, MA was a true testament to the will of the people to preserve nature's open historical landscape.
Judith made many friends in the short time she lived in the Occum Part of Norwich, CT, next to the Shetucket River and many others in her home town of Blackstone, MA
We will all miss Judy and her adventurous compassionate way of life. Her infamous smile and willingness to serve will forever be remembered.
Besides her husband Jeffrey, she is survived by one brother: John and his wife Jeannine Johnson- Cumberland RI; her nieces and nephews David and Kim Johnson- Cumberland RI, Ron and Jennifer Krieger with Cassidy and Kendall of North Conway, NH, Jonathan and Stephanie Noris with Lucy and Lizzie of Cumberland, RI, and Michael and Susan Johnson with Cailey, Shane, and Brandon of Cumberland RI.

Will always remember the good times at Foxboro Raceway...

Johnny & Jeff so sorry about Judy so many memories flooding back. The memories of us playing baseball up the ball ground, playing dress up in your attic with Judy, Judy S., Roseann and Gigi. Hide and seek at Mrs. Moran's telephone pole, sliding in the winter on Tupper's hill. Judy driving all the girls everywhere in her Valiant. One memory of Judy I will never forget was when all the girls went ice skating and I was the first to go onto the ice, the girls followed behind me and we all fell in. Everyone scrambled out but Judy turned quickly pulled me out. We were young and I was the youngest of them all, I cried and was afraid of what my mother would say. Judy took me to your house and dried my cloths and comforted me. Then your mother walked in and wanted to know what was going on. Judy stood up for me and told her the truth. Judy then told me to go home and tell my mother, she said your mother would do it and it would be better if she heard it from me. I will remember her for being there for all the girls. What a great friend!

Love and comfort to you all
