Maria Piette

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Maria (Daniels) Piette, 103, of Main St., Slatersville, died September 24, 2015, at the Holiday Retirement Center, Manville. She was the wife of the late Rosario A. Piette whom she was married to for sixty-one years. Born in No. Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Ella (Fontaine) Daniels.
Mrs. Piette worked thirty- five years for Stillwater, Co., Mapleville, during the 1940's until its closure. Maria was the first women president of the No. Smithfield Senior Citizens Center and also took the role of president for the center's bowling league. She was also a member of the union grange in Slatersville for many years. Maria enjoyed baking, housekeeping, her friends and neighbors, especially Carol Naylor, who helped her during her final years.
She is survived by three sons; Dennis Piette and his wife Edna of Daytona Beach, FL, Norbert Piette and his wife the late Kathleen of Jewett City, CT and Robert Piette and his wife Susan of Burrilliville, granddaughter, Jennifer Daniels of Northwood, NH, three grandsons; Jeffrey Piette of No. Smithfield, Richard Piette of Jewett City, CT and Daniel Piette of Burrillville; great-grandaughter, Nina Laramee of Northwood, NH, great-grandson, Kyle Piette of Jewett City, CT, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three brothers; Gibert, Samuel and Walter Daniels, four sisters; Olive Contildes, Joserphine Belcher Helen Glennon and Minerva Mulvey.
