Marie Crouse Obituary

BELLINGHAM - Marie Claire (McKeigue) Crouse died April 16th in Connecticut where she made her home with her daughter. She was 100. She was the widow of William A. Crouse, retired managing editor of The Woonsocket Call. She was born in Danvers, MA Aug. 2, 1915, the daughter of Charles E. and Marie C. (Healy) McKeigue.
With her husband, she was a 1932 graduate of Danvers High School and later graduated from Salem Commercial School. She took a secretarial job with the water department of the Town of Danvers where she worked until her marriage Oct. 21, 1944, while her husband was still in the Navy. They relocated to the Woonsocket area in 1948 when Bill was hired by The Call. They lived in Bellingham for over 50 years.
She had been a trustee of the Bellingham Public Library for more than a quarter of a century and had been a worker at the election polls for many years. An avid bridge player, she was a member of the former Semper Paratus Club of Woonsocket. She was also a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality of Assumption Parish in Bellingham and had been a member of the former Woonsocket Hospital Aid Association. She and her husband were named Citizens of the Year by the Bellingham Lions Club in 1979.
Surviving are her daughters and their husbands, Ellen and David Siddell of Milford, CT and Betsy and Chip LaPlaca of Franklin, MA, four grandsons, three granddaughters, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 23rd at 8:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM at St. Blaise Chruch, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Friday, April 22nd from 6 PM to 8PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers, MA.
