Mary L. Rizzo

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Mary L. (Horan) Rizzo, age 84, died on January 26th at Hope Hospice in Providence, RI surrounded by her adoring family. She was the beloved wife of the late Russell Rizzo, who died in 2013.

Mary was born on November 11, 1937, to the late Harold and Dorothy (Drew) Horan in Waltham, MA.

She lived in Waltham, MA until 1960, when she moved with her husband and growing family, to Bellingham, MA, where she lived most of her life. Mary graduated with a degree from Fisher Jr. College as a young woman and returned to school at the age of 50 to complete a bachelor's degree from Lesley University. Mary worked as an administrative assistant for various medical offices, including UMASS and Mulroy Orthopedic in Milford until her retirement.

Mary was devoted to her family and cherished time spent with them. She was an amazing support and cheerleader for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary was always ready to encourage, celebrate or console, sharing fully in the lives of her loved ones. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, traveling, art and music.

She is survived by her loving children: Lisa Rizzo, John Rizzo, Mark Rizzo (Robin), Michele Rizzo and Maria Rizzo DePaoli (Michael Depaoli); grandchildren: Ryan Chase, Sue Chase, Matthew Daignault, Adam Daignault, Daniel Rizzo (Casey), Jenna Igbuku, deceased, (Emmanuel), Justin Rizzo, (fiancé Amber Nichols), Mika Gipson, Mary Gipson, Mark Rizzo, II, Joy Rizzo, Emma Rizzo and Domenic DePaoli and great-grandchildren: Adrian Chase, Dylan Briere, Madelyn Daignault, LilyJoy Daignault, Kennedy Rizzo and Mason Daignault.

Calling hours for Mary will be held on Tuesday, February 1st from 4-7 P.M. at Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford followed by a service in the funeral home at 7 P.M.

Interment private.
