Patricia McCarthy Obituary

FLOWER MOUND, TX - Patricia Ann McCarthy passed away peacefully in the comfort of her Flower Mound home in Texas on September 24th, 2021 at 69 years of age. She was born on December 1st, 1951 to the proud parents of Margaret T. Magner and Michael J. Kopeski, Sr., in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the eldest of four children; Michael J. Kopeski, Jr., Stephen Kopeski and Donna Kopeski Pelletier.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband George J. McCarthy. Wed August 18, 1973; the couple began diligently working to provide for a family that would triple in time from their status of two, in which Patricia was employed as a Home Economics teacher; an attribute so fitting of her future accomplishments.

Patricia soon became lovingly known as Mom to her four children. The epitome of a put-together woman; well-dressed, her home well attired and her family dedicatedly tended; while her husband was the sole provider, she was the accomplished "keeper of the home." Her home was a faithfully functioning operation, and she ran it extraordinarily well. She is survived by her children, Eric McCarthy, Heather McCarthy, Laura McCarthy Spurlock and Gregory McCarthy.

As her children became more independent, Mom was determined to achieve a nursing degree. While raising children with a traveling husband, she attended nursing school at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing and achieved her degree with highest honors. She worked on the oncology floor until she could no longer practice due to a decline in her health.

Mom's greatest ambition and success was her family role and her children. Time passed. Her children had children, and she became a grandmother of seven.

Eldest son Eric, married Melissa Vaughn and welcomed two children; Owen (11) and Hadley (4). Laura married Stephen Spurlock and welcomed two children, Abigail (13) and Colin (11). And youngest son Gregory, married Sheila West and welcomed three children, Tryston (11), Asher (8) and Tali (3). Mom became Gramom, and she loved every waking moment breathing in her grandchildren. She adored them and adorned them.

Funeral Mass will be held October 8th, 2021 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 184 Sayles Ave, Pascoag, RI 02859.

As an elder cousin, I remember Patsy as a sweet young girl with the disposition of her Mother Margaret, whom I cared for very much. I know she suffered major medical problems during her short life, but will now enjoy Eternal Peace with Husband George & Mother Margaret. My Love & Condolences to all the family.
