Raymond Recore Obituary

BLACKSTONE - Raymond G. Recore, Sr., 92, of Blackstone, Mass., passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center with loving family by his side.

He is the beloved husband for 70 years of Lorraine M. (Casey) Recore.

Born on May 24, 1925 in Woonsocket, the son of the late Peter H. and Dorilda (Paul) Recore, he is the loving father of Raymond Recore, Jr. and his wife, Mary Jane, of Millville, Mass.; Richard Recore and his wife, Claudette, of Forestdale, R.I.; Robert Recore and his wife, Judy O'Keefe, of Bellingham, Mass.; Ronald Recore and his late wife, Janice, of Woonsocket; Roy Recore and his fiancée, Rose Reopell, of North Smithfield; Rene Recore of Bellingham; Rosanne Remillard and her husband, Denis, of Bellingham; Phyllis Beaulieu of Millville; Jeanne Remillard and her husband, Leo, of Bellingham; Mary Craven and her husband, Christopher, of Blackstone; Linda Leduc and her husband, Christopher, of Harrisville; and the late Russell Recore.

He leaves his cherished 25 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

He is the brother of the late Joseph, William, Eugene and Omer Recore; Constance Rivard, Alma Dubois, Alice Dufresne, Regina Lacroix, Yvonne Recore and Rita DeGrange.

A resident of Blackstone for 14 years, formerly of Bellingham for 50 years and Woonsocket, he worked as a machinist at General Electric in Ashland for 24 years until retiring in 1990. Previously, he worked as a milkman for Ideal Dairy in Bellingham for 12 years and Draper Corporation in Hopedale.

Raymond was a volunteer fireman for many years in Bellingham and served as president of the Volunteer Firefighters Association in South Bellingham. He was a communicant of the former Assumption Church and St. Blaise Church.

He was a United States World War II Army Veteran and received the Purple Heart, One Bronze Battle Star, Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon. He was a member of the D.A.V. and American Legion.

He enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun, was an avid bowler and card player. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.

Funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m. from CARTIER'S FUNRAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham with Military Honors. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Raymond G. Recore, Sr. to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
