Adam Prymak Obituary
Adam Prymak, devoted educator, veteran, artist, and community leader, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Paderborn, Germany, Adam was the son of Philip and Matrona (Romaniuk) Prymak. In 1950, the Prymak family immigrated to the United States, bringing with them the rich traditions of their Ukrainian Orthodox faith, which Adam carried with pride throughout his life.
Adam graduated from East High School in 1964 and earned his degree in education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He later received his Master of Education from St. Xavier University. He dedicated 34 years to teaching in the Rockford Public School District 205, where he found deep joy in guiding students and celebrating their growth and achievements.
A proud patriot, Adam served 22 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Major and former commander of Company B, 2nd Battalion, 129th Infantry. His commitment to service extended into civic life, where he served as a Rockford precinct committeeman and Township trustee. His passion for politics led him to contribute to numerous successful campaigns at the local, state, and national levels.
Adam was also a talented artist, known for his expressive and heartfelt drawings. He often gifted his artwork quietly and unexpectedly to close friends and family, leaving behind treasured pieces that reflected his creativity and generous spirit.
He was an avid traveler, often exploring the world with his sister Toni, his longtime partner Kathie, and many dear friends. He found joy in cooking, sharing meals, and spending time with those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister "Toni" Chujko, two nephews, and his partner Kathie Gummow. He is survived by a wide circle of cherished friends who were touched by his warmth, wisdom, and generosity.
Adam's final years were made brighter by the loving care of his 'family' of caregivers: Sharon Blair, Claudia, Coco, Don, Grace, Lily, and Maria. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Anam Care and Mo Cara Hospice for their compassionate support during Adam's final journey.
